Itinerary
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and be transferred to your accommodation at Springlands Hotel or a similar property for an overnight stay with bed and breakfast.
Altitude: 2,200m – 2,780m After breakfast, drive to the Londorosi Park Gate, approximately a 5-hour journey. As you pass through the Shira Plateau, enjoy opportunities for wildlife sightings. Once at the gate, begin your hike up to Mti Mkubwa Camp, set up camp, and enjoy a delicious dinner.
Altitude: 2,780m – 3,500m Start your day with breakfast before hiking to Shira Camp 1. This is a relatively short hike that helps with acclimatization, taking around 5 hours. The stunning view of the western face of Kibo volcano dominates the landscape. Once at camp, enjoy lunch and take a day hike around the lower moorland area, rich with wildflowers and large shrubs.
Altitude: 3,500m – 3,840m After breakfast, continue your hike to Shira Camp 2. This day serves as another acclimatization opportunity while providing scenic views and a relatively easy pace.
Altitude: 3,840m – 4,630m Today’s climb takes you to the challenging Lava Tower at 4,630m. After a tough climb and a well-earned lunch, descend nearly 680m to Barranco Camp, located in the shadow of the Great Barranco Wall. This day’s descent aids in acclimatization and offers stunning photo opportunities.
Altitude: 3,960m – 4,640m Prepare for a long and strenuous hike to Barafu Camp. Located at 4,640m, the camp sits on a ridge exposed to strong winds. Familiarize yourself with the terrain before dark, ensuring safety. After setting up camp, rest for your summit attempt later that night.
Altitude: 4,640m – 5,895m (Uhuru Peak) – 3,090m (Mweka Camp) You will depart Barafu at around midnight and ascend the scree to Stella Point, arriving after about 6 hours. The sunrise at Stella Point is unforgettable. Continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, where you will enjoy a brief but memorable stay before descending to Barafu for a short rest. Continue to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved dinner and overnight stay.
Altitude: 3,090m – 1,650m After breakfast, descend to Mweka Park Gate, where you will receive your summit certificate. Continue to Mweka village and drive back to Springlands Hotel for a hot lunch, shower, and overnight stay.
After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. This immersive journey is designed for adventure seekers who appreciate nature, challenge, and the rewards of reaching the top of Africa’s highest peak.
