The plane hums along, giving you time to truly drink in the view. From up here, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area reveals its secrets. Herds of wildebeest and zebra weave across the plains like threads in a giant canvas. You might even spot the stealthy movement of a lioness, or the hulking shape of an elephant bull. This is Africa at its most raw and beautiful - a world teeming with life, a photographer's dream come true.
Accommodation (3 Nights): Serengeti Sopa Lodge
The first breath of dawn carries the scent of the African wild - a mix of dew-kissed grass and a hint of wood smoke. After a hearty breakfast, the thrill of the day already crackles in the air as dawn paints the sky in fiery golds. This is the photographer's golden hour, a time of soft light and long shadows, and you will make the most of it on your early morning game drive.
The Serengeti stirs to life around you. A lioness yawns, revealing gleaming teeth, while zebras graze peacefully, their stripes rippling in the morning breeze. Each click of your shutter captures a piece of this world, a fleeting moment of nature's grand design. If you are lucky, you might even witness the heart-pounding thrill of a chase, the dust swirling as predators and prey compete in an age-old dance.
To the north, a silent drama unfolds - the great herds of wildebeest and zebra begin their epic migration towards the Mara. This is the pulse of the wild, the relentless cycle of life, death, and renewal. Your journey takes you to incredible vantage points, where you will frame those poignant moments against the vastness of the savannah. As the sun dips below the horizon, casting the world in a crimson glow, the day's adventures become indelible memories, captured both on film and forever in your heart.
The day starts with a thrill - a sunrise game drive that promises stunning photo moments. As you depart, there's a whisper of anticipation in the air, a sense that something extraordinary awaits as you head north towards the Mara River. This is where the wildebeest migration unfolds, and if you are lucky, you will witness one of nature's most breathtaking spectacles: the river crossing.
Imagine the chaos of the crossing - the swirling dust, the desperate plunges into crocodile-infested waters. It is a heart-stopping scene, perfect for dramatic wildlife photography that tells a powerful story.
Your home for these unforgettable nights will be a luxurious tented camp - a haven of comfort nestled right in the heart of the wilderness.
We recommend staying here for at least two nights so that each morning and evening, you' venture out on game drives, with your camera always at the ready.
This region bursts with photographic potential, from big cat encounters to intimate portraits of grazing animals. And as your last evening falls, the flickering campfire and a farewell dinner under the stars will provide a final, atmospheric scene to capture the essence of your adventure.

The soft glow of dawn paints the sky over Entebbe as you prepare for a day unlike any other. Your heart flutters with anticipation - today, you will venture into the world of the shoebill stork, a creature so unique and captivating it seems plucked from the pages of a prehistoric field guide. With camera gear in hand, you will set out for the Mabamba Swamp, a lush sanctuary on the shores of Lake Victoria.
Mabamba is a haven for birdlife, a maze of papyrus reeds and waterways teeming with feathered wonders. But it is the shoebill that holds a special allure. With its massive, clog-shaped bill, piercing gaze, and statuesque stillness, this bird commands respect. As your boat glides through the channels, keep your eyes peeled for its unmistakable silhouette. Imagine the thrill of spotting a shoebill, its feathers dappled in the morning light, patiently stalking fish in the shallows. This is your chance to capture the essence of a truly extraordinary bird.
Mabamba's importance extends beyond its iconic resident. The swamp's rich ecosystem supports a diverse array of avian life, from vibrant kingfishers to majestic African fish eagles. Your camera will be working overtime as you document this feathered paradise, featured top bird species that Uganda protects.
The morning sun peeks over the horizon as you head for the airstrip near Entebbe. A short flight whisks you south to Kisoro, nestled in the shadow of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Your Gorillas & Serengeti safari driver will be waiting, ready to take you on a rugged 4x4 adventure into the hilly landscapes of western Uganda.
But first, a break in Kisoro town - a chance to stretch your legs and grab a quick cup of coffee, the perfect fuel for a day of exploring. This is where you will choose your gear for a unique photography walk through local villages. Imagine capturing the vibrant energy of everyday life, the smiles of children, the textures of homes and markets - a glimpse into a world far removed from your own.

The mist-shrouded mountains and lush islands create stunning backdrops for your photos, each shot a testament to the serenity of this untouched corner of the world.

Later, your driver will be waiting to take you to your home for the next few nights - the Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge. You can choose to stay right where you are, or opt for a scenic 45-minute drive through the countryside, winding your way up to the lodge's stunning clifftop location.
Accommodation (3 Nights): Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge - luxury safari lodge with excellent mountain and forest views. Or these serene gorilla lodges in Bwindi
Get ready for the most exhilarating part of your Gorillas & Serengeti adventure - the gorilla trekking experience. Those gym sessions will pay off, because you will be hiking up and down steep slopes through the dense Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. How long will it take to find the gorillas? Anywhere from 30 minutes to a full 4 hours - the challenge is part of the thrill!
The day starts early with a 7:30 am briefing at the visitor centre. Here's where you will get the essential info about trekking safety and check your permit. Then the excitement builds as you are divided into small groups of eight. Each group will have two armed rangers and an experienced tracker to guide you.
Following the lead of the tracker, armed with his machete and walkie-talkie for updates from other groups, you will plunge into the dense forest. There are no trails here, just tangled vines, damp earth, and the dappled light filtering through the leaves. This is the perfect chance to test your camera's low-light capabilities. but those gorilla portraits will be the main event!
You will only get one hour with the gorillas, a time that will feel both eternal and fleeting. This is where you soak it all in: the sounds, the smells, the sheer power of these magnificent creatures. It is challenging photography, but oh-so-rewarding! If you want even more time, consider the Gorilla Habituation Experience - a full four hours with the gorillas. Or, if the tough hiking isn't your thing, there's a fully habituated family that offers a more relaxed experience.
Finally, around 1:30 pm, you will step out of the gorilla jungle, exhilarated and probably a bit muddy. The rest of the afternoon is yours to relax at the lodge, relive your incredible experience, and marvel at the stunning scenery that surrounds you. It is been a day you will never forget.
After the intensity of your gorilla trek, today offers a chance to slow down and savour the tranquility of the lodge. Indulge in a long, leisurely breakfast, letting the peace of the morning wash over you. There's no rush, just time to relax and recharge before the next part of your adventure.
As the afternoon sun casts long shadows, you will embark on a deeply moving cultural encounter with the Batwa people. Their ancient traditions and connection to the forest offer a fascinating glimpse into a different way of life. Keep your camera poised to capture poignant portraits, moments of joy and connection - these images will add depth and richness to your photographic journey.
But the day's most breathtaking moments are yet to come. As dusk approaches, you will make your way to a unique vantage point - a soccer pitch perched on a mountaintop 7,000 feet high. From here, the world unfolds below you: the Virunga Volcanoes pierce the sky, Bwindi's dense forest stretches to the horizon, and the distant Rwenzori Mountains fade into mist.
This is your moment to master landscape photography. Dramatic clouds, shifting light, the vastness of the scene - it is a challenge and a photographer's dream. As twilight paints the sky in fiery hues, you will feel the sheer wonder of this place, an experience to be treasured both on camera and in your heart.
As your incredible Gorillas & Serengeti adventure reaches its final chapter, savour one last hearty breakfast at the lodge. It is time to say goodbye to the wild landscapes and unforgettable experiences that have filled the past few days.
The scenic drive to the Kihihi airstrip is more than just a journey - it is a chance to let your mind wander back over all you've seen and done. The 130 kilometers become a moving montage of memories: the thrill of spotting lions on the savanna, the awe-inspiring sight of a gorilla family, the warmth of the Ugandan people. You arrive at the airstrip in time for your 2:30 pm flight to Entebbe, a bittersweet departure.
The ending to this safest African adventure is a gentle one. Nestled in a quiet country house in Entebbe, you will find a peaceful haven to unwind and share stories with your fellow travellers. As the day fades and the first stars appear, take a moment on the veranda to look back on everything you've experienced.
Your flight home awaits, but you will carry a piece of this journey with you forever. The photos you've taken, the moments etched in your memory, the friendships forged - these are the treasures of a trip like this, a reminder of the wonders of the Africa and the power of adventure to change and inspire us.
